Begoña Cueto delivers the inaugural lecture for the Master’s Degree in Economic Policy and Public Economics

Professor Begoña Cueto Iglesias, from the University of Oviedo, gave the inaugural lecture for the Master's Degree in Economic Policy and Public Economics on Tuesday, 14 October, in the Ignasi Villalonga Hall of the Faculty of Economics.

The Master’s Degree in Economic Policy and Public Economics at the University of Valencia officially opened the 2025-2026 academic year with a lecture given by Begoña Cueto Iglesias, professor at the University of Oviedo.

Under the title ‘Public policy evaluation: why, how and for what purpose’, Professor Cueto reflected on the importance of evaluation as a fundamental tool for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of public policies, as well as for strengthening accountability and evidence-based decision-making.

The event took place on Tuesday, 14 October 2025, at 12 noon, in the Ignasi Villalonga Room of the Faculty of Economics, and was attended by students, faculty and members of various research groups linked to the field of public economics and policy evaluation.

The conference marked the start of a new academic year in which the master’s programme reaffirms its commitment to specialised training in the analysis and design of economic policies aimed at social welfare and public sector efficiency.
