Following advice from EvalPub researchers on a new grant design, Santa Coloma de Gramenet city council is now putting it into practice.
The Santa Coloma Town Council will launch a line of grants for the coming academic year aimed at students studying for the baccalaureate and vocational training who have not received any state aid.
This was announced by the mayoress of the city, Nuria Parlon, at the Santa Coloma Orienta Fair, which is being held this Friday in the Plaça de la Vila, ‘they will serve as a stimulus for students and also to meet the economic costs of these disciplines and thus compensate for the denials of grants from the Ministry of Education, which is very strict when it comes to awarding grants based on academic performance’.
The scholarships are intended to curb the high rate of early school leavers in baccalaureate studies in the city (30%) and also, to a lesser extent, in intermediate vocational training studies (24%).
