Cornelio A. Polanco Acosta is a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at the University of Valencia. His doctoral thesis is supervised by Professor Rafael Granell. He holds master’s degrees in economics (Alberto Hurtado in Chile), and Statistical Techniques (Nebrija). He earned his Bachelor's in Economics from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo.
He is Head of the Department of Poverty and Inequality Measurement at the Ministry of Economy of the Dominican Republic, leading the official monetary and multidimensional poverty methodologies.
His research focuses on poverty, inequality, and labor markets, emphasizing the feminization of poverty, intergenerational mobility, and the distributive impact of minimum wages. His current work examines taxation’s effects on poverty and informality. He employs advanced quantitative methods and policy evaluation tools, contributing to key indicators of economic and social well-being.
