Diego Muñoz Higueras holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Valencia. His research focuses on the improvement of minimum income guarantee benefits through the reduction of the take-up rate (non-application) of these benefits. In particular, it analyses the minimum insertion income in Spain, both at regional and national level; at this point it is evaluating the change that the implementation of the Minimum Living Income has brought about. Likewise, he also studies the problem of the lack of access to wage supplements, mainly in Ireland. In his research he uses microsimulation and statistical data analysis tools, as well as impact assessment techniques.

He also collaborates with the research group Avaluació Econòmica Pública (EvalPub) and the Càtedra de Tributació Autonòmica. He has been a researcher on projects and contracts with the Generalitat Valenciana and has published in national and international journals.

He has been awarded the I Premi d'Avaluació d'Avaluació de Projectes i Iniciatives de Polítiques Públiques, awarded by the Laboratori d'Anàlisi i Avaluació de Polítiques Públiques (Avalua-lab).
