Mauro Mediavilla is a professor at the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Valencia, associate researcher at the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) and the European Foundation for Society and Education. Member of the research group in Public Economic Evaluation (EVAPUB). Doctor in Economics (2011). José Luís Moreno Becerra Award for the best Doctoral Thesis in Economics of Education (2013). He is currently vice-president of the Association for the Economics of Education (AEDE). The main areas of interest are the determinants of academic performance and the evaluation of educational public policies. He has been a consultant at the Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNESCO) and has been hired as an advisor in the Prometheus program of the government of Ecuador (period 2014-2015) and in the Spending Review Program of European Commission for Spain (Airef, period 2018 - 2019). He has also been part of the committee of experts for the review of scholarships in Spain that advises the Save the Children Foundation. He has made stays in different prestigious universities and research centres in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Denmark, Equator, Hong Kong, Latvia and the United Kingdom. Likewise, he has participated in different competitive projects at the state and regional level uninterruptedly since 2005. Finally, he has more than 70 publications in indexed journals, books and book chapters.
