Mauro Mediavilla is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Valencia. He is also an associate researcher at the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB), the European Foundation for Society and Education, and the Public Policy Evaluation Group in Economics (EVALPUB). He holds a PhD in Economics (2011) and received the José Luis Moreno Becerra Award for the best doctoral thesis in the field of Economics of Education (2013).

He is currently Vice-President of the Association of Economics of Education (AEDE). His main lines of research focus on the evaluation of public policies in education.

He is a consultant for UNESCO (PEER - Spain, 2025-2026). He has also served as a consultant for the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean, and as an advisor to the Ecuadorian Government's Prometeo Programme (2014–2015), as well as to the Spending Review project (European Commission) for Spain, carried out by the Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF) (2018–2019).

He was also a member of the committee of experts reviewing the scholarship system in Spain, advising the Save the Children Foundation. He has conducted research stays at several prestigious universities and centres in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Hong Kong, Ecuador, Latvia, Serbia and Romania.

Since 2005, he has been continuously involved in numerous competitive research projects at both national and regional level. He is the author of more than 70 publications, including articles in indexed journals, books and book chapters.
