On 5 October, researchers Rafael Granell and Amadeo Fuenmayor participated in Madrid in the conference "Fair taxation for the Madrid of the future".

The conference consisted, firstly, of a round table on the situation of taxation in Madrid and, secondly, of a round table to address the reform of taxation in Madrid.

In this way, the conference dealt with different issues related to taxation in the Community of Madrid, such as the recovery of wealth tax – currently 100% subsidised in this autonomous community -, the consolidation of environmental taxation and the imposition of a tax on empty housing with the aim of increasing the supply of housing and, in this way, lowering rents in the Community of Madrid.

Also taking part in the conference were the spokesperson for Más Madrid in the Assembly, Mónica García; Más Madrid MPs Eduardo Gutiérrez and Teresa Zurita; Olga Canto, Professor of Economics at the University of Alcalá de Henares; Ernesto García López, representing OXFAM Intermon and coordinator of the ‘Fair Recovery’ Strategy Team, and Julio López Laborda, Professor of Public Economics at the University of Zaragoza.
