Rafael Granell, Amadeo Fuenmayor and Teresa Savall, researchers of EvalPub, publish the report "Minimum wage, a measure in favour of a social contract" in the Social Observatory of the "La Caixa" Foundation.

The aim of this report is to analyse the impact of the increase in the minimum wage (SMI) in 2019-2020. In this way, it assesses the effects that the increase in the SMI has had on social welfare and, in particular, on the labour market, which has been particularly affected by the situation caused by covid-19.

The results of the report show that the increase in the SMI benefits the most disadvantaged groups in particular, making it possible to reduce household poverty, particularly among young people. In addition, the increase in the minimum wage benefits more than 1.6 million employees, making it possible to reduce existing wage gaps.

The report is part of the project selected in the Call for proposals to support research projects on Social Inequality.
