Abstract: 

The aim of this report is to analyse the impact of the increase in the minimum interprofessional wage (SMI) in 2019-2020. In this way, it assesses the effects that the increase in the minimum wage has had on social welfare and, in particular, on the labour market, which has been particularly affected following the situation caused by covid-19.

The results of the report show how the increase in the minimum wage benefits the most disadvantaged groups in particular, making it possible to reduce poverty among the poor, especially among young people. In addition, the increase in the minimum wage benefits more than 1.6 million workers on behalf of others, making it possible to reduce existing wage gaps.
